Cell phone plan question?
Can you help me, I was wondering if you could buy a cell phone that was made for a different carrier (Cingular),but I want to use it with Sprint. So I was thinking if I bought the phone only, with no plan, could I use the phone with a Sprint plan instead of a Cingular plan or do they make you use that phone only for Cingular?
P.S. I do need to use the Sprint carrier and they do not have what I like so I was wondering if this was possible.Also, if it matters, the phone I was looking at was the Motorola RAZR V3xx.

I know a lot about phones because i’ve been with most of the carriers, verizon, t-mobile, and Cingular. There are two types of service GSM and CDMA. CDMA is used by sprint and Verizon and GSM is used by T-mobile and Cingular. You can use other phones from different carriers if you are using T-mobile and Cingular because they use GSM which allows you to put in a SIM card to switch phones as long as the phone is unlocked. With CDMA you cannot have phones from GSM and GSM cannot have phones from CDMA because they use different technology.
Summary – you cannot use cingular phones for sprint because they use dfferent technology.
