Have you rented a cell phone for European travel?

I’m trying to find a US resident with experience renting a cell phone for European travel.

I’m going to Europe next month, and my Verizon cell phone won’t work there, so I’m planning on renting one.

The two main companies I’ve found so far are Cellular Abroad (National Geographic) and Call In Europe. Both companies have different rate plans that I can read about on their webpages, but I’d love to hear from anyone who has rented from either of these companies. If you have, how did it go? How was coverage? Any hidden fees? Was the phone good quality? Why did you choose the particular company you chose? Anything else I should know?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I think a better option will be: http://www.rebelfone.com/international_simcards.asp , cost & service wise both. They offer local service for all EU countries, so if you are traveling to any one country you can get a local service for that. Else they offer an EU solution ( http://www.rebelfone.com/Europe_simcards.asp ) for multi country travel in EU, one service keeps you connected all over EU at same & low rates everywhere.

You can either buy or rent a phone for as little as $1 a day.
