What is the best TV and/or phone arrangement for vacation home?
We have just finished building a lake house that is 1.5 hours from our home, which we plan to use frequently, but certainly not with the frequency that we live in our primary residence. What is the best arrangement for services such as TV (cable/satellite plans) and Phone service, cell phone reception is not great if existent where we will be. Many cell phone carriers have plans like ATT’s “GO PHONE” where you are only charged for the minutes that you use; is there anything similar to that for Cable or Satellite? I would love to be able to just pay for TV and phone service for when we are at the cabin, does anyone know of companies that make concessions for this type of arrangements? Particularly if the customer maintains contracts with them for their primary residence?
Very few, if any, cable/satelite providers offer deals like this. If you were going to be using the cabin for a few months at a time most providers have plans where they can switch off your service at your primary home, and turn it on at the secondary home. Phone service is definately important in an area with no cell service and is relatively cheap. I would say just hook up phone service and don’t worry so much about the tv. It’s a lake cabin right? Enjoy that and relax! Escape from the madness of tv!
