does this sound like I have OCD to you?
Here are some examples.
I have to check that my door is unlocked like 15 times before I can sleep even though I know it is unlocked, I have to make sure I turn my cell phone is turned off before school like ten times, even though I know it is off. I open my purse every two seconds to make sure my valuables are still in it, I check my purse every two seconds to make sure its zipped all the way, I carry hand sanitizer with me at all times, and if I don’t have access to it , I have a hard time touching any part of my body, everything on my desk at school has to be lined up perfectly, I panic at the smallest things, and also people annoy me like listening to them eat and watching them eat and them watching me eat. I also have random thoughts in my head like if drugs weren’t harmful would everybody take them? I have a song in my head every day and sometimes I get certain sentences or phrases stuck in my head. Could this be OCD?
You bet! Sounds classic to me (I’m OCD) and there are some great meds out there for it. I’ve been on Annafrinil (sp?) for about 8 years and its made a huge difference in my life. Its non-addictive, I’ve had very few side effects, and all those racing thoughts have just about disappeared along with the panic and anxiety. Therapy of course helps too. Definitely talk to a psychiatrist about it. I wasted like 15 years freaking out over all kinds of stuff and being miserable just because I never got diagnosed and just assumed that it was my fault I felt this way. It was a terrible waste of my time and energy.
