unlocking cell phones

i would like to know how some cell phones stores are unlocking cell phones to use on other networks?

Hi some dealers have access to the manufacurers servers where they store the security codes for all of their handsets, most networks have access as well and do generally provide the unlocking codes (here in the UK the tend to a nominal fee of around $45)

A cautionary word of warning though with non network unlocking as it usually means the phone is hooked to a PC and either a program is installed to bypass the latching codes or the locking code is re-written – both of these will in general invalidate any warranty. If your handset is valuable I be temepted to sell to another user on the same network, you may get a lower price but the alternative of unlatching and loosing the warranty could mean you are left with a expensive heap of junk should it go faulty.
